The activities of the Department focus on issues related to the updating and modernization of pzgik digital databases, professional processing traditional paper materials into electronic kind as well as creation of industrial and reference geographic information systems, in particular collecting and processing data for purposes connected to broadly defined topographic databases, thematic databases and specialized databases, digital models of terrain and creating cartographic products.
Modern management of the Department of Geoinformation allows us to benefit from new technologies and the development of GIS in full, but at the same time, due to long tradition, experience and extensive knowledge it focuses on observing cartographic principles, which is becoming more and more difficult to achieve in today's binary world.
We successfully implement projects related to the construction or modernization of district databases as well as regional, civilian and military databases, or create interesting thematic studies.
Quickly and efficiently adapt to the needs of the market, we have extensive modernizations of EGiB behind us, including a task of modernization over 60 000 parcel lots, as well as professional scanning for more than 250 mb resource resources.
From the very beginning we have been cooperating with the key assortment, that is the Database of Topographic Objects (BDOT10k), we implemented the first pilot project Wisła-Dunajec and today we are one of its key performers.
Involvement in the project of the World Bank was a big challenge and provided us with satisfaction: we were involved in removing the effects of floods - coordination and information centers for flood protection in Krakow, Wroclaw and Gliwice – as a part of this project we made close to 400 sheets of flood hazard maps.
For decades we have continuously made maps and, from the very beginning as well, the databases for the civil and military service.
The Department has the biggest experience and the highest potential in Poland in the field of analysis as regards the airports to be used by PAŻP, ULC and the Airports themselves.
